NIH missing Thompson

It appears the National Institute for Health(NIH) is much worse off without head cheerleader Sec. Tommy Thompson going to bat for research dollars. The Washington Times reports that defense and space are sucking up most of the federal research dollars this year. I guess the almost $500 billion the Department of Defense gets as a regular appropriation just isn't enough so cutting back on cancer research seems like a good idea to the Bush Administration. And hey, we've got the dream of going to the moon to fund.

This means the NIH is taking the first budget cutback since before I was born. So we'll be able to go back to moon under President Bush, we just won't increase cancer cure rates. Nice family values.
