Education experiments come with high price

The doors of the New Hope charter school are closed today. All 230 students will need to placed in new schools to finish out the year. What are the chances this school year is not almost a complete loss for these kids? You can find the announcement here.

And are they going to sell the BMW now?

Blame the Milwaukee Public Schools. MPS signed the contract that created the charter.

xout, MPS was

-> required by state law to grant charters like these;

-> not responsible for the oversight of the quality of the program, the teachers, or the administrators;

-> lied to repeatedly by the people running the school, inculding the school's refulsal to follow the language in the contract.

I realize that your knee jerks whenever you sense an opportunity to blame the public schools for anything, but MPS was the aggreived and defrauded party, not the group to blame.

MPS is not to blame in this. They told the charter school to sell the BMW four months ago.

And thanks Jay for facts on the charters.
