The IRS in the voting booth
The News Tribune out of Tacoma, Washington is reporting that the IRS has been collecting political party affiliations for taxpayers in 20 different states. Wisconsin is on that list. So are a lot of other states that were targeted in the 2004 election.
IRS officials are trying to toss it off as information that was collected simply because voter registration files were used to get information on taxpayers. Problem is, Wisconsin doesn't have voters list their political party when they vote as some other states do. So where is the IRS getting the information for Wisconsin residents? It would seem they would have to really try to get that information in this state.
