Punting in politics doesn't work
President Clinton's worst "just punt the ball" policy decision - Don't Ask, Don't Tell for the U.S. Military - is reaping some horrible results. It has become a tool of vengeance in the military.
A recent case reported in the New York Times shows how unworkable this hateful policy has become:
Investigators were never able to determine who the accuser was, Colonel Zellmer said, but "the nature and the volume of the evidence and Sergeant Copas's own sworn statement led me to discharge him."Can you imagine being fired from your job only because your boss received a bunch of anonymous emails from someone accusing you of something?
