Vote today!

It's election day and I'm hoping people will get out there and vote (even if you vote the opposite way I do).

The local elections are very important and I've never understood why voter turnout drops off for these races. The results of these elections affect the day-to-day activities in your life. Belle at Leaning Blue, who says she is not voting today, had this to say about election day:
I was looking for people to try to get me to vote for them. Why should I vote for someone I haven’t even heard of??? If they didn't make the effort to try to get my vote, why should I make the effort to vote for them?
The answer is that the folks that win today are going to spend your money whether you show up to vote or not. Don't you want to make sure the money is being spent by someone that agrees with your political views?

And really, if Belle or folks like her want the candidates to make the effort to contact her, all she has to do is vote in the spring election. Candidates contact voters who show up on election day. Why should they spend money to contact folks that don't show up?

It's a vicious cycle isn't it?
