Here piggy piggy
Citizens Against Government Waste (CWAG) has their new Congressional Pig Book out. Those 'fiscal conservatives' in Congress have piled up some big numbers.
Congress porked out at record dollar levels with $29 billion in pork for 2006, or 6.2 percent more than last year’s total of $27.3 billion. In fact, the total cost of pork has increased by 29 percent since fiscal 2003.
That's right. The folks that always complain about government spending have increased the amount of pork that is spent. I'm not saying all that spending should go since what one person calls pork another calls a needed project in the district, but should it be increasing when we are piling up debt faster than you can say hypocrites?
Oh and one of the candidates for governor that likes to claim he is a fiscal conservative looking out for taxpayers went along with all the spending. You get one guess as to which one it is. Hint, it's not Jim Doyle.
You can find the Congressional Pig Book here.
